About your hosts

Two “Foodies in Switzerland” meet on Instagram. And decide to take it offline.

Jen Burke: The person behind EdibleSwitzerland and the Foodies in Switzerland community.

I organise these dinners the way I like to be invited. Interesting people around a table — and we see what happens.

Experiences to savour

What did our guests love about us! Read their reviews!

  • A wonderful day of wine tasting and walking tour from Grand Lavaux station across the Dezaley terraces down to Rivaz. Jen organized the tour to meet our likes/dislikes… both the... read more wines and our picnic lunch. Had we attempted this on our own, we would have missed so much. As a local, her insights were interesting and her contacts made for great experiences, such as meeting the winemakers. Afterwards she sent us two pages of links and additional info for the remainder of our trip. Highly recommend using Jen as your Lavaux guide!

We met Jen at our first wine tasting and she was so knowledgeable and kind! She knows the best walking paths and lovely restaurants. Would highly recommend booking a day... read more in Lavaux with edible Switzerland!

We were four men on an amazing guided winetour with Jen in Lavaux. Jen was very helpful throughout the planning phase and very flexible in reorganizing the tour when the... read more weather forecast turned out to be unfavourable. We walked through the beautiful landscape and had some exciting wine tastings. The local natural and biodynamic wines were particularly interesting to taste. Moreover, Jen arranged a sumptuous lunch with the best local ingredients and dishes.

My family and I had an awesome winery day trip with Jen and her colleague Dennis in the Swiss wine region of Lavaux. It was a beautiful day spent exploring... read more the region, learning about the wines and enjoying delicious tastings! Jen even went out of her way to build us a picnic with delicious and local food that was incredibly tasty for us to enjoy during the day. She was very thoughtful in organizing our tour and selected some great places for us to enjoy Swiss wine. I would 100% recommend this tour!!!

Jen planned an amazing day for us in Lavaux wine country. She's very thoughtful in her organizing, providing many options to choose from based in type of hike desired, locations,... read more etc. She's very communicative leading up to the day, and making sure you are armed with the right directions to get to the meeting place and back to your hotel. Walking within the vineyards was such a cool experience, as well as being able to take in such beautiful views and scenery. The wineries are also very "hidden" in little villages, so I don't know how easy it'd be to find them on your own. Also, I know we went to more unique ones off the tourist trail. The wineries are family owned and its a totally different experience visiting them versus US wineries. Definitely bring a sturdy bag or backpack because the wine is so good you'll want to buy some! And like us you'll probably buy at the first winery too (or maybe all) Jen is also super knowledgeable, very interested in food and wine, learning and sharing info about the region. She really enjoys what she does! She gave us lots of recommendations for Lausanne and other parts of Switzerland, and all over the world based on our groups travel plans. We really had such a fun day and if we're back in the area will look her up again! Reach out to her if you will be in the area and like wine, Swiss wine is very unique! You won't regret it.

Doing things differently

At EdibleSwitzerland, we try to keep things simple.
Less waste. More local. And events that actually make sense.

We work with local producers. Honey, meat, vegetables, artisan products — and the wines that go with them.

We avoid disposable as much as possible. Reduce. Reuse. Recycle.

No plastic. Vintage plates, cloth napkins, real glasses.

If you can, come by train. It’s easier.

We work with local businesses and guides.
E-bikes, tuk-tuks, tastings, hikes.

And whenever we can, we use green energy.

EVENT

What should I wear?

The dinner takes place in a vintner’s garden — uneven ground, a few cobblestones. Comfortable shoes are a good idea. Evenings can cool down, so bring a jacket.

Dress it up a little if you feel like it. Or don’t. Jeans work just fine.

If the weather turns, we’ll move inside. You’ll hear from us a few days before.

How do I get to the event?

At Marina’s place, in a small wine village in Lavaux
La Place 14, 1098 Epesses

By car
Parking is available on either side of the village, then it’s a short walk down to the garden.

Parking option #1 (east of village)
Parking option #2 (centre village)

By train (the nicest option)
Get off at Grandvaux and walk down to the village (about 45 minutes, beautiful route). Easy return from Epesses (5 minutes on foot from the garden, downhill).

Simple option
Train to Epesses, then a 15-minute walk — it’s uphill.

Do you allow dogs at your event?

As much as we love them, dogs aren’t allowed at this event.

Will the event be postponed?

The event will go ahead. We’ve planned an indoor option if the weather doesn’t cooperate.

When will I receive directions and other important information about the event?

You’ll receive an email about two weeks before the event with directions, final details, and a few practical notes so you know exactly what to expect.

What can I bring, other than my fabulous self?

Bring something to share — something you love and want others to discover. We’ll place everything on a table, and everyone leaves with something new.

OTHER QUESTIONS

Can I buy a gift certificate?

You can definitely offer somebody else a place at the table. Just purchase a ticket and reply to the order confirmation with the name of the guest.

Do you host other private events?

Yes. We create small, tailored events — in vineyards, on farms, usually around food, wine, and a good table.
