I would like to introduce you to one of my favourite Swiss wines: Cuvée Romaine. Created by my father-in-law in 1999 as a tribute to his wife, Romaine (now my mother-in-law). Today, this wine continues to be made by my brother-in-law at our family winery, Domaine Caprice du Temps, just above Sierre in the Swiss wine region of Valais.
Exclusive to Domaine Caprice du Temps. It is a proprietary blend of Humagne blanc, Savagnin blanc (Païen), and Pinot blanc and is one of five wines that mature in oak barrels.
Roughly translated, the tasting notes say: Deliciously fragrant, mixing aromas of white peach and almond with toasted notes, it offers a fresh and velvety palate, full of vivacity and persistence.
Romaine is a woman full of vivacity and persistence, this wine reflects her exceptional spirit. Here’s to toasting not just to a remarkable wine but also to a remarkable woman and her indomitable spirit found in every bottle of Cuvée Romaine.
Raising my glass to you, Romaine—I love you!
